saturday 1 – got up early to feed lizzie, then laze around listening to the radio and reading, ramblings on radio 4 had a walk in plymouth with a group called ‘Start’ – Students And Refugees Together as they took a boat to a nature reserve

went for croissants then a few jobs including loading the Scribus SW for sabs

then out on the bike to marshal at the volkslauf at forstenrieder sc, manning an outpost in the woods, got there with about 20mins to go, chatting with karim about naturell, an outdoor training sport developed 100 years ago in france

was interesting to watch the different styles as the runners filed by, one giving up and wanting to know how to get back quickest to the start, 2 were blind runners with accompanying partners and the very last group of 3 who seemed to be having to best time, jogging and chatting

got back for tea, katie had done her version of burgers

sunday 2 – confirmation sunday, katie playing and full set of 7 songs

waiting for the train saw a quotation:
“einen Wahn zu verlieren macht man weiser als eine Wahrheit zu finden”
Ludwig Börne
losing an illusion makes one wiser than finding a truth

got back at about 2.30pm then spent an hour trying to get avira registered unsuccessfully
finished off some work before tea, then some more work after tea

hifiklubben.de

went to pick up john from station but he was an hour late, not sure what happened

met up with pete and ros on their way to pick up the car from servicing

later looked around uplands, probably for last time, was interesting to see the garden work his dad had done, just how much maintenance still needs doing and the rooms and space

4 of us went for meal at craven heifer, veg curry and treacle sponge and custard, john finishing with christmas pudding, which looked a great choice!

left around 9pm and caught a few songs from the band razorlight uk at the rose and crown, was noticeable how although they didn’t have a lead guitarist, being 2 guitars, bass and drums, how one guitar did pick up on the basic sound of a song through one or two riffs, to keep some melody or resemblance, they were quite good with plenty of backing vocal to thicken things out; made me think we need to put a signature on each song, for a band’s sound

saturday 8, clitheroe/skipton – doing dome work at house then went over to see mum just after she was finishing lunch, then onto auntie jean’s to have tea, although maybe it was too much to put on her, lovely meal, curry, pizza, cheesee and onion pie, which she had made vanilla cakes, and also cake which she had made, then watching the grand national together

then drive back to herriots to check-in and sleep

wednesday 12, hamburg – some issues surfacing so had to keep clear and work on test cases to move along and not get distracted, accomplished what i needed to and got off around 4pm and home for just before 8pm, in time to get beers from edeka for watching the match, although only got to watch second half since girls and hannah were watching a film

sunday 16 – reading about purine in an article about spargel/asparagus – only a problem for people who have a problem in metabolising it, which can lead to gout:

service went ok and we were playing as the band in neue besetzung with joseph and the 3 girls – a few issues with coming in on verses, but went off ok i suppose, even knockin’ on heaven’s door

watched the film “earl, rachel and I” about a girl suffering from leukaemia, after katie and i had spent a good few minutes working out which to watch, coming down to pretty woman or this

monday 24 – day at GBR

go to lisa hannigan concert with sabs in the evening, we take the bus and chat about the internet and how it works, she seems fascinated

lishannigan.ie

wonderful, ethereal, delicate quality to her singing
definite picking action, wouldn’t say folk, uses ring and little finger for support, whilst picking with thumb, index and middle – stayed mainly in C with F, G, Em7, Dm, Am to cadence through, and adjusting via capo to suit the key

support band was.
saintsister.bandcamp.com

tuesday 25 – saw eve off, she was walking alone since bike has a puncture, so i guess hannah is cycling alone

she showed katie and me some bieber tracks

wednesday 26 – gave eve the bieber book i was saving for her birthday

working at GBR with tom, sleeting snow still

reading through the guardian and comments from people over here, some thoughts were interesting:
folk are focusing on rhetoric and not on policy, a dangerous precedent, form over substance
why wasn’t the election called before triggering article 50, not after

went to guitar course in the evening, tough but stuck at it

thursday 27 – working at home and hopes of going to swimming dashed by laziness and bad weather

friday 28 – checking some guitar books, was actually searching for:

The Authentic Guitar Style of Suzanne Vega with Tablature by Mark Phillips (1989-08-02)1683
von Mark Phillips
which is out of print, but came across
