tuesday 6 – johnson resigns and truss takes over after the interminable summer leadership contest …

wednesday 7 – big discussion in the commons about the energy package being announced and the clear red lines or blue water between truss and starmer
energy firm profits over 2 years 170bn v calculated cost of truss package for cap at 2500, also at anywhere from 150-200bn
so basically one could equal the other out – starmer says it’s right that some should come from windfall taxes on energy companies who are essentially profiteering from the war im ukraine – truss says they cannot touch these profits – ergo it’s borrow now pay later ie. tax rises or cuts or both for a longer period of time – slow pain – and by which time the next govt can be hit with rising taxes, all highly suspect and mischevious bit like paying for covid which has also been kicked into the long grass

coming back to here where the schwarz Null politik means that largely govt’s can’t kick tax rises into the future and go into debt, here’s what germany is doing:

wednesday 21 – fly to uk ready for the weekend meetup of old school friends

saturday 24 – go for parkrun in clitheroe and this time it registered – I first went on one in august but hadnt got a printout of my bar code so unable to get a time and recognition that time – was great fun

today’s the big meet up with school friends from when we all started at the secondary school in 1972, ie. 50th anniversary

travel over to skipton for 3pm kickoff at the boat house, then onto sound bar with spon’s DJ set with a strategic fish from the town car park chippy with john and roger, onto the woolly sheep for final beer and curry at the aagra which was very good

great meeting up again, interesting how folks had changed, great fun to find out what folks had done and where life had taken them, in any case seven of use meetup regularly anyway but it was nice to see the others, albeit a challenge to recognise them eg. berry and some I spoke with more at the re-union than I had all my time at school. One person who was very artistic, woody, ended up designing children’s toys and attends the annual Nuremberg toy fair. Nice to speak for a long time with ian and of course, pete surprised with a sudden appearance, after giving the impression he was going to pass on it.

sunday 25 – breakfast at wetherspoons after quick tea at spon’s where john and i had stayed over – roger, pete, spon, john, me then drive over to clitheroe with john

tuesday 27 – flight back and dentists appointment the next day to get a crown/bridge

feels best time to write is first thing in the morning … out of the dream state into the waking day, so between 5am and 6am .. likes rituals

at times publisher said she was using too many metaphors
a lot about flow and feeling the words

met with a lot of people who gave her ideas and metahpors
eg. roll skaters – difference between skaters who fall and get up and back in vs those who can’t get back into it
