sunday 1 – easter service and getting there just on time with eve via the bus

go for a run for the first time in ages and make a fruit yoghurt for the first time in ages

monday 2 – we go on a walk from ebenhausen/schäftlarn to starnbergersee

was nice walking along the long rolling lanes and through the wooded areas, had a rest on a bench, but otherwise a fairly leisurely stroll over around 2.5 hours

legs were hurting from the run yesterday

end up meeting maria on the same table at the strandcafe, which is likely the best place to eat and view the lake, reasonable prices and excellent view. i saw one solitary

go to mykonos restaurant in the evening with eve and lissy, after they had fed the cat at sonja’s

thursday 5
reading about Ronald Thomschke and his books on neck/shoulder exercises as well as correct posture

saturday 7 – massive info about cookies:
https://home.bt.com/pages/cookies/more-about-cookies.html
how do folks deal with this plethora of options – likely just by clicking accept – actually the click and drag was quite easy to adjust to just those necessary ones

sunday 8 – stayed downstairs working and getting the IT setup with data shuffled into the right locations

went for quite a long run before tea

monday 9 – katie in the uk

sabs was doing some maths after coming back earlier from school, was heartening to see, as she had been neglecting it for so long – she is very much like me in that respect, keen to get it perfect, so if she can’t, finds it hard to start

give eve 3€ for ice cream in the evening – will this be the last time?

tuesday 10 – went for run into west park before 6am, there’s a challenge at work, so trying to get motivated to earn some points for it!
there was such a cacophony of bird song, since it was still dark becoming dawn, lovely

thursday 12 – fly to uk for gill’s 60th birthday at the weekend

friday 13 – visit my mum then drive via keighley down through halifax and down many windy narrow roads, many traffic lights and after 3 hours finally arrive

have a nice evening and meal of chilli then play couple of games which were interesting: boardgame having to describe one of 6 potential things without saying it; then a much better game involving each player giving 4 names of famous people, who could be locally famous, ie. members of the group, then playing in teams and taking in turns to guess as many of the names as possible in 90 seconds in rounds of: describing (like the previous game), acting out/miming, then finally giving one word to describe the person

saturday 14 – we have full fry breakfast, then relax around until mid-afternoon, with john and rose flying in via helicopter and transported there by louise, was nice to see them and got chatted with john for a while

finally we set off for the promised Nick walk up and over the main hill south overlooking castleton near various blue john caves

good steep walk with long distance views to kinder scout and mam tor

sunday 15 – got up reasonably early to help with breakfast, katie, ruby and i get involved with baking the croissants for the more continental breakfast

tuesday 17 – eve ill stayed in bed most of the day

wednesday 18 – again eve off ill, really seems taken badly with this cold or possibly hay fever, like me

working from gbr for last time and meet up with reiner and guan; guan keen on studying statistics and in particular Bayes’ Theorem:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayes%27_theorem

thursday 19 – eve back at work today and pointed out how only sonja had been pleased to see her back – they are so mixed up in the A level years, that they are not all together for much of the time, so i guess it is easy that some don’t realise she’s been ill, still it does seem that her best friends in the group are becoming sonja and lissie with hannah of course, outiside the group

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/19/pret-a-manger-chain-natural-labelling-real-bread-campaign

friday 20 – we practice in the evening for playing on sunday, then go for the usual beer at the motel one before getting buses home shortly after 10pm

saturday 21 – spent a lot of the day doing music homework, which consists of trying to get the melody for the song we’re doing tomorrow over to reiner to play on recorder, was a challenging exercise, which i didn’t get completely right but most of the notes were correct, only the rhythm ie. length of notes were difficult to get

sunday 22 – we play in church, graham doing give a little bit, me leading the flower that shattered the stone by john denver and then graham plays his own song

monday 23 – got me thinking about the new deadly sins:
sugar
alcohol
tobacco
licentiousness
gambling
sitting

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins

or a later guardian article shows
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/apr/30/the-five-habits-that-can-add-more-than-a-decade-to-your-life

another klopp interview:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/apr/23/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-champions-league-roma-mo-salah-brexit
“History has always shown that when we stay together we can sort out problems. When we split then we start fighting. There was not one time in history where division creates success.”

decided to skip swimming (again!), but must be fully ready on 7th may so maybe a good thing

sat in with eve till katie back from charge conference, we listened to tom misch on spotify and she was quite impressed as she went about her studying for the religion klausur tomorrow

tuesday 24 – katie introduced me to a series on radio 4, “the voices of” as there was a singing sister duo from the folk band “the unthanks” and they listened a lot to Sufjan Stevens, who is quite relaxing and interesting

wednesday 25 – big meeting with customer, have to stand and give a presentation on what’s been tested and my recommendations

afterwards go into the offce and have lunch with jack who mentions some great tips for band practicing:
1) you have to get to a point in the band where you all know what you are doing through a song and can play so well that you can listen to or hear the other members
=> means getting to finished state pretty well before the performance
2) once you’re at this stage, then you can work together on getting the “groove” working in the song, ie. the emphasis on 2 and 4 in the bar – ie. who needs to be doing what and when and how strong; this is the key aspect of rhythm

thursday 26 – taking some reading material collected, including:
http://www.a-tempo.de/article.php?i=201804&c=2

good flight to manchester and drive to clitheroe back for about 8.30pm

friday 27 – go for early run for 30 minutes and 4.5 km

shock jack as he arrives at the house to work, was surprised to see my head spin round the stairwell as he comes in, having fiddled with the lock, surprised he didn’t twig

do some work at the house and pete and roz visit

pete gives tip to use some thompson treatment on the concreting in the kitchen when it is completely dried out in the summer, in order to seal it

also his advice was to have put the stop tap outside and spin the feed under the sink and under the units, we could still do this since it would be below the units – there was a reason we didn’t do this, have to speak with katie as to the exacting reasoning why

visit mum quickly then check into woolly sheep and meet up with pete, then steve and brian at the railway station

we go over to spon’s do at the goat’s head in steeton for his daughter’s wedding celebration then take train back and have beers at the craven, the yorkshire rose, the sound bar finishing at the woolly sheep for a total of around 7 beers, didn’t sleep too well and that was enough to make me ..

saturday 28 – wake up and feel terrible, clearly had too many last night, so pete’s breakfast riposte to keep at 12 units now for safety was an interesting limit for him, he said his ability to process beer/alcohol has severely taken a downturn as well, and he puts the limit into practice

drive over to see my mum, then up to grassington to drop the “riverball” book by simon raven off about wharfedale, before elizabeth drops me off to wander down the avenue meeting up on the way with andy sellers the maths teacher from way back when at school, 40 years in fact!

wharfedale win 30 v 21 against macclesfield, failing to get the bonus point which would have seen them safe, so 2 nail biting weeks ahead (but they make it!)

have meal of fish, chips and mushy at the fountaine inn in linton then drive over the tops through the wonderful dales scenery in a resplendent yellow, green and brown hues almost autumnal but for the lightness and yellow, instead of red perhaps for the more autumnal shades

sunday 29 – go to chatburn chapel for the service and sit with mabel during the service

peter lumsden is speaking once more, this time he mentions about a colleague who walked the jakob’s way in northern spain, troubled at the start with fear of all his failings in life, his marriage and parenting wasn’t as perfect or as good as he’d hoped, he’d made mistakes etc, and how upon arrival that there was only love and the fear had gone.

the lesson was the same as that in the morning service, taken from 1 john 4, 7-21, God is Love

come back home and start clearing out the back bedroom cupboard and finding space in the attic cupboard room, took some time and just took the day easily

monday 30 – go for run, which is nice for the challenge, 30 minutes and 4.5 km

work out of the library, then swales, then back to the library to get internet access

drive over to skipton and finish off some work at margaret’s and distibuting the info to folks ie. completing work stuff off

looking at cleaning up josh’s MAC which has got a virus on it

we go over to visit mum, who is a bit cantankerous and awkward, gave josh a game of chess and beat him, this time start with one half side missing, ie. no rook, knight and bishop with forward pawns
